In 2025 I ran some more Maths in the Wild workshops at secondary schools. On January 20th, I was invited by Sarah Murray, a maths teacher at Mount Carmel Secondary School, to speak to higher-level Leaving Certificate maths students. I demonstrated how mathematics can be used to model memory and forgetting processes. It was especially nice to visit since Sarah is a former student of the School of Mathematical Sciences at DIT.
On March 4th, I returned to my alma mater, The High School, at the invitation of the maths and physics teachers Ian Wilkinson, Denise Thorp, and Dr. Una Budd. There, I presented to two physics classes, showing how mathematics can be used to model decision-making processes and how these same principles are now applied in artificial neural networks.
